Willan Cottage looks out at the beauty of the Co Antrim pastures yet is only 2 miles from the stunning strands and golf courses which encompass the seaside resort of Portrush.

The area offers easy access to activities for all including walking, surfing, cycling, fishing, golf and of course the fun attractions of Barry’s Amusements. For those with a passion for motorcycles the North West 200 motorcycle circuit is minutes from the cottage. If you wish to travel at a slightly slower pace there are excellent cycles paths around the North Coast area.

Just 3 miles from the property, golfers will find the world famous Royal Portrush Golf Course and Rathmore, with natural seaside links, deep bunkers and expansive roughs, overlooked by the 13th century Dunluce Castle. There are several other championship courses on the North Coast close by, including Portstewart, Castlerock and Bushfoot.

Anglers have a choice of fishing for salmon on the River Bush, in sight of the famous Old Bushmills Whisky Distillery, or visiting Ballylagan fishery, a spring fed lake stocked with rainbow trout. For those with the sea legs to cope, enquires can be made at Portrush Harbour to organises a Sea Fishing experience.

For those with equestrian interests, there livery facilities and a sand area on the farm behind the cottage and a number of riding schools to welcome riders of all abilities, The Island, Hill Farm Riding Centre & Sheans.

Portrush itself offers an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, cafes and seaside amusements for all the family. And everywhere has a stunning sea view. The beach offers bucket and spade fun as well as great surf breaks. Several surf schools offer lessons for all the family, check out Troggs, Alive or Long John Surf.

Should you land at Willan Cottage in early September then your timing is perfect to take in the annual Portrush Air show.

The historic and picturesque Dunluce Castle and world renown Giants Causeway are less than 10 miles to the East. A few miles inland allows you to walk through the Dark Hedges and the familiar scenery made popular by the Game of Thrones.

Only 4 miles to the west you can chill with an ice cream in Portstewart or walk the Strand Beach with stunning views across to the Donegal headland. In the same direction Londonderry is 35 miles away and is easily accessible by train from Portrush on one of the most scenic rail journeys in Europe to quote Michael Palin. Northern Ireland’s capital city, Belfast, is only an hour by car and can also be accessed by train from Portrush. The Market town of Coleraine is only 10 mins drive and provides an excellent range of shops.

When hunger hits there are numerous wonderful coffee shops,  garden centres and restaurants in the area.
